I am a Senior Associate Solicitor with Advanced Law Accreditation. I work within a busy team in the family department of Barker Booth & Eastwood. I am the Legal Aid Supervisor for the firm. I ensure compliance with the legal aid contract terms, supervise and guide the more junior members of the department. I volunteer for FCWA as Chair of the Board of their Trustees. I am passionate about good legal advice and representation being available to all.
I represent clients in respect of their personal protection and the protection of their children. I undertake all work relating to child law, in both the private and public law arenas.
My workdays are busy days understanding my clients’ needs and proactively progressing their cases to achieve positive outcomes.
I commenced working life at 16 in a firm of Solicitors and discovered a passion for family law. I became a legal assistant to experienced family law Solicitors soon thereafter. I first commenced advising my own clients in matters relating to family law in 2003. I qualified as a Legal Executive and then as a Solicitor in 2013. I worked full time advising and representing clients whilst I gained further qualifications. I am proud that I achieved a distinction with prize for best in class on the Legal Practice Course.
I have held the Family Law Advanced Accreditation for many years now and I am a member of Resolution.
I have an understanding and empathetic approach in my work and my communications with my clients. I have a great understanding of domestic abuse and a passion to support those who have lived experience of the complexities of it.
Case Highlights
- I was particularly happy with an outcome for one client who had been subjected to horrendous trauma from the father to her two children. The father made an application to Court for contact with those children. The Court dismissed his application, barred him from making any further Court application for 5 years, made all protective Orders available and gave permission for the children to change their surnames to that of their younger siblings so that they were fully integrated into their new family unit. This was despite the presumption of contact between children and a biological parent.
Outside of Work
I love to spend time with my family. I have recently become a great aunt, and it is a joy! I equally enjoy time with close friends, meals out, attending events and going on holiday. I love my volunteer work with FCWA. I go to the gym when I have time, usually before sunrise!
